ABOUT US

Jay Walker, Founder, Senior Partner, P.App., AACI

I’m a senior real estate valuation professional with over 35 years of experience appraising and managing complex ICI/CRE assignments across British Columbia, Canada. My career has spanned independent fee appraisal, commercial assessment and appeals, team leadership, and professional education — all driven by a commitment to quality, clarity, and integrity in valuation.

I’ve led multi-billion-dollar appeal teams, developed appraisal training courses adopted across organizations, reviewed hundreds of appraisal reports, and reviewed substantial numbers of reports for members of the Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC) as a work product reviewer. I’ve also tutored and marked Advanced Income Appraisal at UBC’s Sauder School of Business, where I helped future appraisers develop the skills and standards the profession demands.

35+

Years of Experience

Over the years, I’ve appraised nearly every major property type you can name — from industrial and office portfolios to hotels, multi-family residential, development lands, retail centres, and unique waterfront properties. My work has included assignments for lending institutions, municipalities, strata councils, private clients, and national firms.

But just as importantly, I’ve always been a trainer, mentor, and educator. Whether creating courses, coaching junior appraisers, or grading university projects, I believe that better analysis, clearer reasoning, and stronger writing lead to better valuations.

Now, I help other professionals improve their appraisal work — through coaching, report review, and practical skills development. If you’re looking to elevate your appraisal practice, bring more confidence to your reports, or deepen your understanding of ICI/CRE valuation, I’d be glad to work with you.
